Access handrail for people with reduced mobility

Our disabled access handrails are created with Kee Access fittings to ensure that they comply with Part M of the Building regulations.

The outer edge of the fittings is flush with the outer edge of the tube which it is connecting, meaning that the entire surface of the handrail is kept smooth and continuous.

This can make a big difference to the user, as it means that they will not have to lift their hand off the rail from start to finish. This is an important feature as somebody with a disability may be dependent on the rail for safe access.

Why weld-free railings?

This new barrier system is made up of galvanised fittings created with versatility and speed of installation in mind - installing a ramp requires no welding or threading. Ideal for creating new structures, this system can also be adapted to an existing barrier thanks to the A10-748 and A10-848 openable connectors.

Unlike welded PMR handrails, our galvanised fittings protect against corrosion and last up to 7 times longer than prefabricated handrails.

Part-M handrails that are quick and easy to install

Kee Access fittings securely fix standard 42.3mm diameter tubes to create handrails that adapt to any situation. Very easy to install, there's no need for welding, specialist labour or special tools. All fittings and tubes are galvanised for minimum maintenance.

They can also be finished with a baked-on polyester coating in the RAL colour of your choice. Our team of experts is on hand to guide you from design to installation, ensuring that your handrail complies with the NDA standard.

How To Install A Tube Clamp Handrail

Our tube clamps make installing a handrail very simple. Each fitting contains one or more grub screws which are easily tightened using just an allen key, or hexagonal headed drill bit. The grub screw then closes in towards the tube as it is tightened, until it clamps the tube in place. This creates an extremely strong joint and is a fantastic way of installing a rail with the miniumum of fuss.

The alternative to our easy-install rail is to look for a more expensive welded solution. This may also involve waiting on hot work permits and can dramatically hold up a project, whereby a tube clamp handrail can be installed by just about anyone with basic DIY skills.

How Tube Clamps Work

What Makes A Handrail Part M Compliant?

NDA Compliant Handrail

Smooth And Continuous

The handrails surface should be smooth and continuous along its entirety, with no breaks or terminations.

Terminated Appropriately

Your railing must be terminated in a way which alerts users that it has come to an end. This can be achieved with a D-return or similar.

Edge Protection

Where a drop off exists at the edge of a ramp, a bottom rail may be required to stop a wheelchair wheel from falling off. A mid-rail can suffice in some situations.

How Our Fittings Create a Smooth, Continuous Rail

Our fittings ensure that the rails can be created with no breaks or terminations along their entire course. An L-bracket type fiting pushes the rail in off
the post, making it offset. All rails are then connected using internal joiners or split elbows, which keep the other edge of the fitting flush with the outer edge of the
tube. This enables a hand to pass safely along the rail from one end to the other, which suits Part M and ensures safe access for wheelchair users and others with disabilities.
