7 Reasons To Install Kee Klamp Steel Handrails
What is the best method of installing a steel handrail? Do I need to get someone from a construction background to install my safety rail? The answer is simple. Kee Klamp handrail fittings are ideal for providing a safety access solution that can be easily self installed by someone with basic DIY skills. If you would prefer to seek help from someone who may may be more competent, there is no harm in doing so. But if you or a friend/neighbour is used to doing odd jobs around the house, then why spend money unnecessarily?
So what makes Kee Klamp handrails such a good solution?
1. Kee Klamp Rails Provide A Simple Safety Solution
First things first. Kee Klamp handrails do what they are supposed to. They provide a perfect handrail solution and are ideal for the smallest AND biggest installations. In this day and age, there is no reason for anyone to face any risk when entering their home or premises.
Despite all the great advances and innovation shown in numerous sectors over the years, Kee Klamp handrails are, in a way, special for being so simple. They are a non-fussy method of providing safety on steps, ramps and exposed edges, eliminating risk with a quick tun of an allenkey.

2. Eliminate The Need For Welding
Each of our handrail fittings are tightened with an allenkey or hexagonal headed drill bit. This makes installation very straight forward and eliminates the need for hot work permits required for welding. The downside of welding is that it is a specialised profession and can only be carried out by a competent person skilled in this field.
If a handrail is required on site, hot work permits may need to be produced in order for work to commence. Self-installing your handrail is the cheapest way to protect yourself and others from harm, without running the risk of being overcharged by someone making an install out to be a big job.

3. Speed Up Installation Times With Handrail Fittings
Because just about anyone with basic DIY skills can install a simple handrail kit, the customer should not need to wait around for a tradesperson to come and install the rail. As I’m sure we have all experienced, it can be very difficult at times to get a tradesperson to do a small job.
Having a handrail installed for a friend or family member in need is obviously an important job as it provides safety and peace of mind, but naturally a tradesperson will be more focussed on bigger paying projects. This can lead to long waiting times. Having the luxury to be able to install the handrail yourself, can save loads of time and provide an instant safety solution.

4. Self Installed Rails
All Kee Klamp rails are tightened and secured using just an allen key, with just basic DIY skills required. The most difficult part of any installation is drilling the holes for base flanges, which in itself isn’t very technical either. We would always advise customers to not let anyone charge them a lot if they are seeking help from someone they don’t know. For example, our simple to install handrail kits would usually take an hour at the most to install, as the tubing is already cut to size. The idea of these kits is that they can easily be installed with minimum fuss, at a low cost.

5. Easily Adjusted Or Fixed If Damaged
Not only is a handrail constructed with fittings much easier to install, they are thus also easier to disconnect should any part of the rail become damaged. This has happened a few times in the past, where handrails were damaged by cars or pallet-trucks reversing into them. When a section of rail is damaged, a component based handrail can be quickly fixed. Simply loosen the grub screws in the connecting fittings, remove the damaged piece of tube, and replace it with a new piece.
If a handrail upright is damaged, it can be removed from the handrail railing flange, with a new upright being slid into position. Quickly fixing a damaged handrail is very important as it re-establishes a safe access system into a home or business.

6. Improvised Solutions For The Required Scenario
With there being over 120 fitting types in the Kee Klamp range, there is a fitting available to suit pretty much every scenario. We have a number of base flange solutions for example, with a the Standard Railing Flange, an Angled Base Flange for sloped surfaces and also Flanges which can be side fixed into the side of a retaining wall or steps. We would also have angled and swivel fittings which can be used to create a handrail at a variety of angles.
The flexibility of the Kee Klamp range ensures that a solution can always be found in awkward or compromised spaces. We get asked about various handrail scenarios every week, as no two rails are exactly the same. But once you get used to the fittings and their various functions, you can quickly come up with the perfect solution.

7. Looks Neat And Tidy
A Kee Klamp handrail provides a clean industrial handrail which can transform the front of a building. It is not only smart in terms of how it is installed, but also in appearance. We use clean galvanised steel tube for our handrails, which are silver in colour. It is also possible to paint the rails in a chosen colour if desired.
While many safety manuals state to paint a handrail in a contrasting colour to make it better visible for people with visual impairments, most homeowners look to paint their rail in a colour which matches the house. Whether painted or left as a galvanised steel handrail, a Kee Klamp rail ensures a neat and tidy solution.
Need A Part M Rail?

Do you need a disabled access rail which needs to suit Part M of the Building Regulations?
Part M rails need to be smooth and continuous tfrom beginning to end. Kee Klamp rails won't work for such a project, as they are inline and would create an interuption on each upright. However, we would have a similar range of steel handrail fittings which create an offset rail, meaning it steps in off the uprights. It then uses internal joiners and split elbow fittings, which work with the tube to provide a smooth surface for the duration of the rail.
